Debt management advice from American Debt Girl's best friend

Debt Management

Do you have issues with debt? American Debt Girl did, so she got some advice from a friend.

How Debt Management Helped American Debt Girl

American Debt Girl and her best friend Buffy couldn't be more opposite. American Debt Girl is more more like a shopaholic, spending $400 on a pair of boots and engaging in other similar careless spending habits. But Buffy is, well, more of a "reformed" shopaholic, trading Prada for Payless. American Debt Girl is a buyer for a women's clothing store. She's like the lead character in Legally Blonde. She's smart, but she disguises it well--except for when it comes to debt. On that front, she chose to ignore her situation. However, one day, her credit card was declined at her favorite store. Then she was forced to face the reality that she needed debt help. Although she and Buffy had become polar opposites financially speaking, they were close. She told Buffy her problem, and Buffy promptly replied, "Sounds like you need debt management!"

"What's debt management?" American Debt Girl asked.

"Debt management can help you get out of debt through one of many different debt management programs. I never told you this, but I, too, was in debt once from shopping the way you do. I was used to having the things I had when my dad was footing the bill. But when I went out on my own, I went into debt paying those high prices shoes and clothes and makeup and stuff. Now I wear shoes from Payless, I use Clinique instead of Lancome, and I only buy clothes if they're on sale and I actually need them. I decided that paying my auto insurance, health insurance, home insurance, and just general insurance bills were more important. I can't help you get out of debt though. You need the kind of help you can only get from a debt management company. They have debt elimination programs to help you get rid of your credit card debt. I have saved enough money now that I have even started to trade stocks for my own personal investment."

"What are these programs you speak so highly of? Did you get a debt management program?"

"Yes, I did. I got a debt consolidation loan using my house as collateral. My guess is that your debt management professional will suggest a debt consolidation program for you, and a little credit counseling on the side," Buffy speculated.

"What's a debt consolidation program?" American Debt Girl asked.

"A debt consolidation program involves a debt management professional contacting your creditors to get your balances lowered and your interest rates lowered. Then they wrap all the new, lower balances together into one, and you make one affordable monthly payment to the debt management company. Because of all the reductions, you can be debt free in about five years--maybe less!"

"Wow!" American Debt Girl said. "Sign me up!"

"Well, you have to contact a debt management service for that. Here's a card for the one I used," Buffy said.

With that, American Debt Girl contacted the debt management company, and the rest is history--just like her debt.

And that is how they told it to me, anyway, but you know how that goes. You can never really expect to get the whole story about adebt management program unless you see for yourself. You are perfectly capable, with some help, to find the debt management solution that will set you free.
